About the Diaspora Department

Our mandate is to empower the diaspora community by providing tailored support, fostering engagement, and ensuring their contributions are maximized for the benefit of Somaliland’s prosperity.

A key initiative of the Diaspora Department is Diaspora Mapping, which aims to create a detailed and dynamic database of the Somaliland diaspora worldwide. This initiative is critical for understanding the demographic, educational, and professional backgrounds of our diaspora community, as well as their areas of interest and expertise.
By mapping the diaspora, we can:

3. Airport Help Desk at Egal International Airport
To ensure a smooth and welcoming experience for diaspora members traveling to and from Somaliland, we operate a dedicated Airport Help Desk at Egal International Airport. This service provides post-arrival and pre-departure assistance, including:
● Guidance on immigration procedures, customs, and transportation.
● A comprehensive Service Guide for returning diaspora, offering information on key services, programs, and opportunities available during their stay in Somaliland.
● Support in connecting diaspora members with relevant government agencies, businesses, hospitality services, entertainment, and community organizations to help them make the most of their visit.
The Airport Help Desk is designed to make the diaspora’s transition into Somaliland as seamless as possible, ensuring they feel welcomed and supported from the moment they arrive.
